I just finished scoring (with my good friend Norman Kim) THE TENANT, a narrative feature film set in Mumbai, India. I also served as music supervisor (alongside Yvette Metoyer) and produced the film. Coming soon!
My music was featured in a theatrical trailer for Angry Birds 2 this summer.
I scored STEEL CUT OATS, a stop motion / live action hybrid film starring Brian George and Rachel Bloom. Premiering at FilmQuest 2019!
Daniel Walter is a Los Angeles-based composer and musician.
He started out in collaboration with Dexter composer Daniel Licht, and has since moved on to serve as lead composer on feature films, television shows, commercials, and movie trailers.
Daniel was lead composer on Religion of Sports (Audience Network), a six-part docu series created by Gotham Chopra with Tom Brady serving as executive producer. Daniel scored writer-director Ari Aster’s (Hereditary, Midsommar) notable short film, Munchausen, a 15 minute Pixar-inspired silent film that devolves into horror. Daniel’s music is in films that have premiered at festivals ranging from Cannes to SXSW.
Daniel has guest lectured on film and television scoring at UCLA. His music has been featured in global trailer campaigns from all the major studios. He has scored flagship commercials from major brands that aired during the Super Bowl and the Olympics. In 2012 he was one of 12 composers chosen from 300 applicants for the ASCAP Film & TV Scoring Workshop.
In 2019 he finished his first feature film as a producer, The Tenant, a coming-of-age film from writer-director Sushrut Jain set in Mumbai, India.
Daniel has composed music since his first piano lessons at age six and trained as a classical pianist through his teens. Largely self-taught as a composer, he has also studied with private teachers and mentors, including the late jazz pianist and wrecking-crew member, Michael Melvoin, and concert composer Ian Krouse, chair of composition and theory at the UCLA School of Music.
